Project Shellter - Lack of shells force the crabs to find shelter in shotgun shells, glasses, or whichever other bits of refuge they can find. 

The MakerBot community is trying to address the hermit crab housing shortage by 3D-printing shells that they could use as their homes.

My very first hermit crab was found in deeep water in a shell like the one on the top right. Huge fellow, changed shells daily! Had him for a year or so, and then he died :(
